Client Terms and Conditions

Smart Alec Tutoring (SAT) provides tutoring services directly to clients (Clients) and does not act as an agency for other tutors. At this time, all tutoring services are provided solely by the lead tutor at Smart Alec Tutoring.

Any reference to ‘we’ or ‘us’ in this policy refers to Smart Alec Tutoring as a sole proprietorship.

Fees and Payment
  • Smart Alec Tutoring handles all billing for sessions.
  • An invoice will be sent up to two weeks before the first lesson of the month or at the beginning of a programme, depending on the nature of tuition required.
  • Payments must be made within 7 days of the invoice.
  • Fees are calculated at a rate agreed in advance. The tutor logs hours via a transparent tracking system.
  • Clients may request a breakdown of hours.
  • Cash or any unapproved payment methods are not accepted.
  • All payment details are kept confidential and are not shared with third parties.
Non-solicitation

Clients may not make private arrangements for tuition that bypass these terms. This ensures a transparent and professional relationship.

Liability

We are not liable for any arrangements made outside of Smart Alec Tutoring services. Our liability is limited to the fees you pay for those services. We are not liable for events beyond our reasonable control.

Cancellation Policy
  • Both the Client and Smart Alec Tutoring must notify each other in advance of holidays or illness-related changes.
  • Alternative dates will be arranged for One-to-One Tutoring and Group Sessions.
  • Students will receive recordings of missed sessions.
  • Cancellations or rescheduling must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Less than 24 hours: may incur a 50% lesson fee.
  • Less than 12 hours: full lesson fee charged; rescheduling will cost 50% of the lesson fee.
  • Frequent cancellations are discouraged to maintain learning consistency.
General
  • Smart Alec Tutoring reserves the right to amend these terms. Clients will be notified in writing.
  • These terms take precedence over any other terms provided by the Client, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Any changes to these terms must be approved in writing by Smart Alec Tutoring.

Using our services implies your agreement with these Terms and Conditions.
